Hi all! This week I’ll be introducing a book!
The Japanese English Bilingual Visual Dictionary (DK Visual Dictionaries) is a wonderful resource for beginners to intermediate/advanced learners alike. With a wide range of vocabulary, this visual dictionary will help greatly in your quest to expand your Japanese vocabulary.
Think of the themed list we have here. Only multiply that by 300. And put in tons of wonderful pictures. It’s a visual dictionary after all. Clothes, occupation, food, sports… The huge variety of everyday vocabulary will be a great asset in your learning journey. And it’s not just things like listing down all the sports. They go into more in-depth vocabulary like right field, left field, batter and pitcher for a basic list of words a baseball fan must know.
With pages after pages of beautiful illustrations, this book makes for good, light hearted studying. Read a few pages before bedtime, or first thing in the morning. It’s not too heavy and you can gradually expand your vocabulary.
The book boasts over 10,000 illustrated terms, and is suitable whether you are a traveller, casual learner, or hard working student.
For those who have yet to master hirangana/katakana, fear not, the book provides romanji on top of the Japanese and English terms. It’s truly beginner friendly indeed. Check out the images below to see what’s inside the book.
The book is available in major bookstores (I got mine from Kinokuniya), and it’s also available on Amazon.
